Stable Equestrian rider – Wayne Garrick

I’m now rapidly approaching 40 and can’t even begin to think how on earth I ever achieved 3* level eventing in my twenties with two home produced horses, Cornish Murphy and Flyte.

I have ridden countless young horses and crazy nut jobs along the way in all disciplines and thus far, I’ve survived.

Currently running my own yard in the middle of nowhere, from which I compete my string of event horses:

  • Backfire who is a 16.1hds bay KWPN stallion moving up to Intermediate.
  • Uptown Girl VI, 16hd bay mare who has completed an Intermediate.
  • Simply Sunny, 16.3hds bay gelding who is ready to move up to Intermediate.
  • Harthill Emerald, 16.2hds bay gelding who is ready to move up to Novice next season.

I also have a promising string of young stallions to compete this year:

  • Donthargos Gold, 16.1hds 5 year old chestnut
  • Vigaro Z, a 17hds 4 year old

both of which will campaign for the Burghley young horses classes.

And my wonderful dressage horse Viv (DCI Dollar) who has taught me so much and so far we have achieved 4 lots of qualifications for regionals up to and including Medium. Also managed to get to the summer and winter Nationals. I’m very excited for our future together.

My main competition goals for 2018 are fun and survival.
