Anna – February 2015
February started as a successful month for me and Gleavo, posting our highest ever score of 75.41% at Kingston Mauward doing Medium 75. We won this class by over 3 percent and our score was also the highest score posted all day! We went on to win the Advanced Medium with 68.29% that day, and with regionals just a week away it gave us both some confidence.
This was our first ever regionals, with me only having had Gleavo for 9 months we weren’t expecting much, especially as I have only been riding pure dressage for 9 months and Gleavo had only done a handful of competitions before we brought him despite being trained to PSG, and a majority of them were only at Elementary. Since we brought him back in May I have gone from riding at Elementary, to being part of the Junior GB squads, to beginning to training Gleavo up to Grand-Prix, and Gleavo has advanced from only having done a small amount of competitions to having won 20/26 of the classes he has been entered into.
Gleavo warmed up really well, with thanks to one of my trainers, Bruce King, and felt really forward and good. The test went well, although there were 2 costly errors. We scored 68.47% and had we not have had those errors we would have got around the 70% mark.
Since the Regionals me and Gleavo have also been selected for our first international which will take place at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre in March. It’s been an amazing year since we brought Gleavo, and all we can hope for is that 2015 will follow suit!
